For those visiting this site for the first time, the Lesbian Association of India is a member based online association, commissioning research and collating resources related to 'Gender and Sexuality in S. Asia with a focus on women.'

The L.A.I awards grants, guidance and ongoing support to groups or individuals in India to establish and run community centres or to co-ordinate outreach programs which:

• advance education and raise awareness in equality and diversity.
• promote activities to foster understanding between people from diverse backgrounds.

"We work to support Lesbian and Bisexual women in India to establish community centers in areas where there is no existing support network. We work in collaboration with groups or organizations in India, coordinating events or out reach programs, offering funding, support and resources."

The L.A.I resource menu is currently a work in progress. Over the coming months Cambridge University Students are carrying out online research. Information will soon become available under the following categories: newsletter, articles, research, literature and links. In the future we hope to provide access to resources that might otherwise be difficult to source. The content of which, will be interesting as well as informative to general users, groups, organizations, researchers or press. In order to access the resource menu, users will need to log in and create an account.

The login area will also enable organizations or groups interested in applying to the L.A.I for support, to do so online. Applicants will then be able to monitor their progress online, and gain access to additional resources.

"Newsletter"

Will link to an archive of the L.A.I Newsletter, the newsletter is a new production by the L.A.I. The first issue will be published in March and will be available as an online subscription.

"Articles"

Will link to articles written for the L.A.I, and also international articles of relevance.

"Research"

Will link to a catalogue of relevant research, initially from UK Universities.

"Literature"

Will link to an archive of literature, prose or poetry. If possible we will display links to sites where the books might be purchased online.
